Ann of ArcAs a liberal Christian, I believe that it is God's job, not mine, to judge people.
God is the only lawgiver and judge. He alone can save and destroy. Who do you think you are, to judge someone else? James 4:12
So I won't say that Ann Coulter is a fake Christian.
I will, however, say that she is one weird Christian.
Ann Coulter is interviewed by George Wayne in this month's issue of Vanity Fair.
"Coulter is one wierd Christian."
As usual, George Wayne leads with his rude sexual taunts but it's the Christianity of Coulter that is revealing, which she mentions three times in a fairly short interview.
George Wayne: What do you consider yourself?
Ann Coulter: A patriot and a Christian.
Wayne: You are a Christian?
Coulter: Yes, sort of a mean Christian.
A mean Christian?
Since Christianity is half her primary identity, I'm sure she has read this passage:
By our purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness we have shown ourselves to be God's servants---by the Holy Spirit, by our true love, 2 Corinthians 6:6
and this one:
The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. Gal 5:22-22
or the whole bunch of other verses which make "mean Christian" a total oxymoron.
Wayne: How come we don't hear any more rumors about POTUS and Condi? It's obvious they adore each other. And who can forget her Freudian slip when she called him "my husband."
Coulter: They are both Republican and Christian so no one has to worry about that.
Coulter must put her fingers in her ears and go "la! la! la! la!" whenever there's a report about yet another Republican caught in an affair.
According to one tally, prominent Republicans out-philander Democrats three to one.
Coulter reminds me of those Muslims who won't accept that a haji can do serious sin. "Republican? Check. Christian? Check. You're a saint!"
Democrats three to one."
Coulter: The great idea, G.W., was the one I launched on the night of 9/11. You really can't improve upon, "Invade their country, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity."
Until this interview, I assumed that Coulter was completely freaked-out on 911 and blurted out something really stupid, which she now regrets.
Not so. She actually thinks re-waging the crusades is a peachy idea! (It went so well the last time, I guess.)
Since Coulter is a Christian, she's surely read Romans:
All have turned away from God.... their speech is filled with bitter curses. They are quick to hurt and kill; they leave ruin and destruction wherever they go. They have not known the path of peace, nor have they learned reverence for God." Romans 3:12-18
I can't imagine how Coulter these verses in her mind with invasions, murders and forced conversions.
